Carlos Ferrer was born in San Cristóbal, Venezuela. His musical education began in Venezuela’s “El Sistema”, his home country’s internationally renowned, state-funded music education programme. With the aim of deepening his artistic training as a cellist, he moved to Germany.

He studied cello at the Hochschule für Musik Münster with Prof. Matias de Oliveira Pinto, completing his Bachelor of Music there in 2019. He then continued his studies with Prof. Elisabeth Fürniss, first as part of a certificate programme and subsequently in the master’s programme, which he also completed successfully at the Hochschule für Musik Münster.

Carlos Ferrer gained key artistic insight from international masterclasses. Concert tours have taken him as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician across Europe, Asia, and North and South America.

In recognition of his outstanding academic achievements, he received the ProTalent – Deutschlandstipendium of the University of Münster from 2016 to 2018. He was also a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation Münster (2018) and of Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Münsterland e. V. (2016–2019).

Carlos Ferrer is a cello lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik Münster as well as a cello teacher and ensemble director at the Westfälische Schule für Musik in Münster. Alongside his concert career, he integrates his work as a performer and educator by initiating projects that merge music, education, and social dialogue.

Carlos Ferrer currently performs on a modern cello based on a Gagliano model.
